What Will Be Unofficial Topic A @ ILCT?

BACK TO VEGAS: We're closing up shop and are about to make the annual trek to our International Limousine, Charter & Tour Show in Las Vegas this weekend. Operators will be flying in from around the world Saturday and Sunday, ready for the world's largest and most prestigious chauffeured transportation business event.

We're all obviously already familiar with the formal agenda, seminars, and topics to be discussed at official events, but as with any convention, the off-the-record, off-hours buzz at casino bars, clubs, and industry parties always serves up plenty of topics du jour that may not always make their way into a content venue. So much has happened this past year. . . But I would venture the following will be TOPIC LIST A among showgoers:

  • Scott Solombrino's deal with Hertz. Rental car and chauffeured car is an inflammatory subject in this industry, so what's the scoop behind the deal and what are the devils in the details?
  • Recession-era deals abound; who's been bought, sold, or shut down? The pre-Show deal between Rockstar Limo's John Olinger and All Occasion's Eric Weiner stands as an ideal evolution in this economic and competitive climate. What else is to come for other operators this year?
  • How are coachbuilders hanging in there, now that Federal Coach has been splintered into separate units? More changes to come?
  • Per usual, which four operators will win LCT's annual business awards contest, LCT Operator of The Year?
  • Which of three industry associations -- Luxury Base Operators Association, Maryland Limousine Association, and Limousine Association of Houston -- will win the 2010 LCT Association Award of Excellence?
  • And don't forget about the exciting, evolving technologies reshaping this industry through Limos.com, RateButler.com, and TransportationWorld.com? Two of the three online ventures weren't even around this time last year. What do these warp speed innovations mean for operators and how they do business?

So, plenty to talk, gossip, and speculate about. . . See you there.
