ROAD TO RECOVERY? Three Operators Get Better Nos.

UP AND UP: The surest signs of a recovery do not come from statistics, but rather the every day anecdotes conveyed word of mouth.

TORRANCE, Calif. — LCT Magazine recently heard from four key industry players on how they are faring financially. While not a scientific or statistical conclusion, such reports are becoming more common as an uncertain economic recovery forges ahead.

  • WINDY CITY LIMOUSINE of Chicago reported that January 2010 was 34% ahead of January 2009. February was 80% ahead of February 2009, and March was 96% ahead of March 2009. Overall, its first quarter of gross revenue for 2010 was $2,429,781, compared to $1,441,861.20 in 1Q 2009.

  • RED BANK LIMO in Red Bank, N.J., a 2010 LCT Operator Of The Year winner, reports a 35% increase in sales through April 15, compared to the same period in 2009. The six-vehicle operator also has added a few employees to its 12-member staff.

  • ETS INTERNATIONAL of Quincy, Mass. also a 2010 LCT Operator Of The Year winner, saw its revenues grow 62% in 2009. While many companies experienced hiring freezes and layoffs last year, ETS International continued to strategically add to staff significantly, maintained a 401k match, and rewarded employees based on their performance, said ETS president John M. Greene.
