JUNE/JULY 2010 LCT Preview & Posts

MEETINGS, CONVENTIONS, & MOVING BIG GROUPS:
With the June/July 2010 issue, LCT Magazine ushers in what we hope will be a cool, comfortable summer with a gradual warming of industry revenues. . .

We’ve posted a NEW ROUND OF FEATURES on LCTMAG.COM from this issue which was mailed out on Thursday, May 27.

First up, the recession and post-recession quarters have been active for operator dealmaking, as operators pursue opportunities to buy, sell, and merge. LCT contributing editor Jim Luff reports on tips and guidelines operators should follow WHEN CLOSING A DEAL.

In keeping with our first-ever issue theme of Meetings & Conventions, LCT looks at the post-recession state of the meetings industry, which has taken some heavy hits since the last quarter of 2008. How should operators handle the changing demands of meeting planners and get their business in the current economic environment? LCT associate editor Nicole Schlooser looks at what CLIENTS EXPECT FROM MOTORCOACH SERVICE.

If you can imagine another industry taking a heavier hit than chauffeured transportation, look no further than charter jets. But the FBO/charter jet market shows SIGNS OF A COMEBACK, and none too soon for this evergreen chauffeured market.

Also, we’ve posted the latest update from LCT’s GREAT LIMO RACE, which unfortunately did not make the print edition but is now posted at lctmag.com. Be sure to check out the LIMO RACE BLOG, where you can find continuing updates from the five operator/contestants vying to be the most successful start-up by July 2011.

Finally, LCTMAG.COM has a new WEB POLL QUESTION on your profits, a new MARKETING TIP from Create-A-Card Inc., and some sage advice in the PUBLISHER’S PAGE from LCT Publisher Sara Eastwood-McLean.

Given the slower summer months, our next issue will be the LARGEST FLEETS/BLACK BOOK issue for August.
