The kind where everything goes wrong.
For two days in a row, I have been having “one of those days,” when everything I touch seems to explode in my face. You start thinking about your past and what kind of karma has been dredged up and why now.
While I usually write about industry topics, my blog also serves as a vent for the pressures in life that I am sure we all share. We are all human. We all work in a 24/7 business that never shuts down and problems can arise at anytime of the day or night without warning.
It is the human element that also can cause major blowups when two people simply are not in sync with each other on a given day. The fact that you have to interact together can certainly be a problem when one person is in a foul mood and the other person is having a great, positive day. Who is going to ruin whose day in this case?
Yesterday I was in a fantastic mood. I was upbeat and positive. I sent a routine business correspondence to a “source” for an upcoming article. This person must have been having a bad day because she wrote me a horrible message back calling me rude. Rude? Okay, there is no doubt the description can fit me on any given day. However, I was not rude and I sent the same message to four other sources that all answered me promptly and efficiently without any comment to the “tone” of my e-mail that simply asked for a response within 48 hours.
Well, that put me in a foul mood for the rest of the day. Next, I offered up a note of apology only to be met with another terse e-mail asking me to never contact her or her company again. Wow! I honestly don’t know what happened but that put me in a worse mood and then it seemed that everything was bad for the rest of the day. My plans fell apart. A car developed mechanical problems. And the final topper of the day was going home and finding out that the chicken pot pies I bought on sale were the cheese flavored and not the regular flavored. You know when you are having chicken pot pie for dinner you had a crappy day anyway!
Thank goodness I get to start over today. I cannot help but wonder if someone didn’t throw a hex on me yesterday. Anyone else experience a similar day lately?
