Could Tesla Luxury Sedan Electrify Future Limo World?

Tesla Motors, makers of the all-electric ROADSTER coupe, which has just been taken past the 100,000 kilometer point by the GERMAN OWNER OF THE 83RD TESLA DELIVERED IN EUROPE, plans to begin delivering its MODEL S SEDAN to customers in mid-2012. The Model S, according to Tesla’s website, offers “luxurious space, seating for five adults and two children, and a second cargo area under the hood,” all of which come on top of the fact that the car uses no fuel and releases zero emissions.

While the specs are not yet available, the Model S may end up as a good fit for the livery industry, especially since the price tag is not the $109,000 that Roadster owners had to cough up, but between $57,400 -$77,400, depending on which battery pack is chosen. Three battery options are offered: 160-, 230-, or 300-mile range.

A statement from Tesla said, “We anticipate that the initial units of the Model S will be introduced with a Signature Series, which will have range capability of 300 miles (480 km) and include certain colors and options, some of which may not be available in the general production of the Model S. We also plan to offer the capability to fast charge in as little as 45 minutes and the ability to rapidly swap out its battery pack at commercial charging stations.”
