Sea Of Black Town Cars Heralds End Times

TV REPORT FEATURES DAVID BASTIAN: A local Buffalo, N.Y. area TV news report includes an interview with David Bastian of Towne Livery of Orchard Park, N.Y. in a parking lot full of 2011 Lincoln Town Car Executive Ls, part of the last batch to be delivered to operators nationwide. NBC-TV Channel 2: Lincoln Town Car Ends Production Next Month.

Limousine operators have been bulk-ordering the beloved model before Ford Motor Co. ceases production forever on Aug. 31. The report well summarizes the Town Car demise and related trends. One disturbing fact in the report: How stricter federal mileage rules made it difficult for Lincoln to continue producing this large, luxury V-8 with lots of legroom and wide doors. You can expect the U.S.S. Nanny State to continue badgering the large, luxury vehicle market. -- Martin Romjue, LCT editor
