Will Green Energy Kill The Economy?

An opinion column in today’s Wall Street Journal, titled “Europe’s Green Energy Suicide,” provides more evidence of the overall fallacy of green energy, global warming, and carbon-dioxide emissions. It should serve as a warning to the U.S. of how a dreamy, doctrinaire pursuit of green energy destroys jobs and economies. It’s not too late for the U.S. to avert this scenario; the U.S. now has plenty of clean, efficient, and abundant sources of energy (oil and natural gas) waiting to be safely tapped. (Any successful energy executives and workers in 3.9% unemployment North Dakota need chauffeured transportation or have kids going to the prom, anyone?)

As we head toward the crucial November elections, play close attention to who really wants to create jobs, cheapen energy, and get the economy moving again via comprehensive energy policies on smart use of fossil fuels and nuclear power, versus who wants to keep subsidizing costly boondoggles Euro-style, such as Solyndra and the twinkling Chevy Volt. The bottom line for limousine operators is this: Will you have enough affordable gas and electricity to run your fleets and business going forward? Will you have more transportation service opportunities in the corporate, energy and business travel sectors as the economy grows normally again? — Martin Romjue, LCT editor
